In the Astronist philosophy of religion, selectivism is a post-omnidoxical Cometanic term referring to the instance in which a person denies, downplays or even dismisses one element of a religion or philosophy whilst emphasising or promoting another element of that same belief system as a way to progress the overall cause; a colloquial term is religious cherrypicking. People are conduct such are known as selectivists.

One of the most prominent examples of selectivism is in the case of metaphoricality wherein one aspect of a religion is deemed metaphorical, often due to its blatant inconsistency with scientific evidence, while another element of that religion is considered literal despite the fact that it holds just as much scientific incompatibility with the first element.
